At Pivot Psychology Austin, we believe that healing is both personal and political.
Founded in 2020 by Drs. Han Ren and Annie Farmer, our practice emerged from a shared vision: to create a community of clinicians grounded in cultural humility, accountability, and trauma-informed care.
Our Story:
Just months after our opening in 2020, the global pandemic challenged us to adapt quickly. We pivoted to telehealth, expanded our professional network remotely, and utilized social media for outreach.
Through it all, we have transformed challenges into opportunities for growth, proving that even in difficult times, mental health support can thrive.
Through these experiences, our mission became even clearer: to provide anti-oppressive and culturally humble clinical care that supports individuals and communities through the messy process of human growth.
Our dedication to nurturing connections and providing accessible resources continues to define our mission, ensuring that our community remains strong and supported, no matter the circumstances.
Our team has since grown to include experienced clinicians like Dr. Annette Leija, a bilingual psychologist specializing in anxiety, stress, and sleep disorders with adolescents, and Dr. Paula Floyd, who focuses on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral assessments for individuals of all ages.
Together, we offer person-centered, culturally grounded psychotherapy and psychological assessments to individuals, couples, and families.
At the core of our practice is a commitment to balancing professionalism with humanity.
We integrate tenets of liberation psychology, recognizing the inherent political nature of mental healthcare.
At Pivot Psychology, we hold our identities and positionality as salient in all the spaces we occupy, acknowledging the challenges of working to dismantle systems of oppression while operating within them.

No Surprises Act
Good Faith Estimate Law
Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage, are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges for care.
Pivot Psychology Austin will actively strive to provide this at or near the beginning of all new treatment programs for new clients. By law, you have the right to receive this information within 1 business day of your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider for an estimate before service. However, given that an intake session is required to identify the underlying therapeutic problems and thus provide a good faith estimate, this may be difficult to provide. We will of course do our best to provide what we can based on best practices. If extenuating circumstances cause us to forget, you have the right to remind us of this duty and we have the obligation to provide it to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is a mistake and we will correct it promptly.
The “Good Faith Estimate” is an estimate of the total costs of the annual overall care. Due to the nuances and fluidity of therapy, this can be very difficult to project. Nevertheless, we will work to provide accurate estimates so that you can make an informed decision that is in your best interest.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services each year. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
