About Han

I am a licensed psychologist and licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP) practicing in Austin, Texas. I specialize in anxiety, perfectionism, high achievers, and children of immigrants. Although my degree specialty and background were originally with children, I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, both individually and as part of family therapy or parent consultation. These days I mostly work with high achieving young adults. In addition to psychotherapy, I provide psychoeducational and psychological assessments. I’ve been an adjunct professor at the University of Texas in their Special Education and Human Development and Family Sciences departments. In my former life, I was a member of Teach For America and worked as a special educator for preschoolers. Outside of the therapy chair, you can usually find me trying to keep up with my two young kids or spinning on my Peloton.

Clinical Training and Background

My graduate training includes experience in counseling, consultation, and assessment in public schools, inpatient psychiatric hospital, juvenile services, and private practice. My degree specialties are in child clinical and school psychology. I completed my APA-approved pre-doctoral internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, serving children across K-12 educational settings. I have advanced post-doctoral training in psychological testing in forensic and outpatient settings.

As an adjunct professor at UT, I’ve taught assessment to pre-service special educators  and an upper-division undergraduate lecture on the development of psychopathology in childhood. My teaching informs my practice and vice versa, allowing me to stay current on research and best practices. Prior to my doctoral studies, I completed my M.Ed in Special Education and have first-hand experience with Special Education law, advocacy, and navigating school systems.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to therapy is integrative and person-centered. I use a relational framework to help you understand how your past affects your present and where you learned the habits and beliefs you carry with you. Armed with knowledge about your patterns, I help you develop skills, insight, and active strategies to create a future worth living. My core theoretical orientations are informed by interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, and systems theories. I’m always learning new modalities and expanding my knowledge and practice of effective psychotherapy. In the past few years, I’ve been training in and incorporating Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT).
